Team Chapel

Team Chapel was formed in 2011 when Pastor Robert Hartwell applied for and was granted a small charity license for the 2011 ING New York City Marathon. This highly sought-after opportunity allowed five "Team Chapel" runners to participate in the marathon, supporting The Chapel School Scholarship Fund. Pastor Hartwell led the first Team Chapel as both coach and runner.
 

Through the efforts of Team Chapel, students can receive the extra financial assistance they need to receive an exceptional education and reach their full potential, at The Chapel School. Thousands of dollars have been raised, empowering many students to receive a quality Christian education.

The partnership between The Chapel School and New York Road Runners has continued to thrive and expand. Each November, Team Chapel seeks runners for the TCS New York City Marathon, and each March, we seek runners for the TCS NYC Half on behalf of Team Chapel Arts, with proceeds supporting our growing arts program, including Band, Choral Music, Fine Art, and Drama.

The team actively looks for community members to run in these classic New York City races and serve as ambassadors of Village Lutheran Church & The Chapel School.
Our running ambassadors help raise awareness and funding for The Chapel School Programs, ensuring the ongoing budgetary needs to grow and sustain the program are met.
